My Word This Week

Published on 12 November 2023 at 13:30

Hi there readers and welcome back to another Word this week. My little part of my blog where I can vent and share everything. With those weather temperatures dropping now, I'm enjoying nothing better than snuggling under my blanket in the evenings with a warm cup of coffee in my hands. This year has gone by so quickly, why does time do that to us?

Let's jump straight into my Word…

Word this week:

Exorbitant - meaning: of a price or amount charged unreasonably. Adjective

I think perhaps right now, this is a word that is very apt in the world.

Netflix watch list

I hope I am not the only one still loving Netflix box sets? With fresh films and new seasons always popping up, I can not resist. However, my watch list is an arms length and yes, I've just added more. Here's what I can't wait to watch:

Robbie Williams documentary

The Crown season 5

The Lincoln Lawyer season 2

At Home With The Fury's

Survival Of The Thickest

Nomo calendar

I just had to share this advent calendar that I saw in Sainsburys. Aptly named 'Nomo' - no missing out, it's free from dairy, gluten, nuts and egg, it's also vegan friendly. At only £5 I feel this is such a bargain. Meanwhile, I've just paid £8 for a Cadbury Heroes one!

Do you buy advent calendars?

First invented by many German families, advent calendars were a way to mark the anticipation of the days leading up to Christmas. The UK started manufacturing them in 1956.

Barry M haul

You know me and nail stuff, I can't enough. I just so happened to have found myself down that illustrious aisle this week, and instantly I am drawn to one of my favourite brands - Barry M.

Wet set top coat - £2.99

Nail paint - £3.99

Mani Hero Nourish - £3.99

I highly recommend the wet set top coat. I have used this now for a long time, especially on my toe nails and it dries quickly too.

The Limited Edition polish called 'optimist' is a gorgeous pearlescent light green. To me it is unusual, because it's almost between a satin and a matte kind of finish.

Mani Hero is new to me, there were four in the collection, including nourish, hydrate, repair and strengthen. I gave nourish a go and it dried quickly, putting straight onto my nail it acted like a base coat would, leaving it glossy and ready to paint over. The only thing was the smell. I expected to smell raspberry, as it clearly states it is made with raspberry leaf, but I was met with a potent normal polish smell, a stronger one.

Matthew Perry - 1969 - 2023

Rest in Peace Matthew. I was shocked and upset to hear of his passing, watching Friends will now be a different experience for me. More of a sombre emotional one.

We are still yet to hear of his exact cause of death, that must be hard for his family.

I just had to pay my respects to him in this post - forever my Chandler Bing.

My favourite things:

Reading - Matthew Perry's autobiography

Listening - Russell Watson's album

Wearing - Avon's ‘Beyond the Moon’

Buying - Christmas presents

Excited for - a Christmas afternoon tea next weekend

Thank you for reading, have a great November and stay warm.

Love J x
