My Word This Week

Weekly Thought: Is it just me or does it seem people are not really abiding by the social distancing measures that are still in place? Having gone to visit other towns last weekend, I was walking out of people's way but they were not inclined to do the same. Having stood in a couple of queues, others were definitely not 2 metres away from the one in front. Who is at fault here? Do you have an obligation to say 'excuse me but can you keep to the distancing rule?' It seems like they have forgotten all that we have been working on these past 14 months.

I have been swimming this week, the first time since August last year. I thought I'd actually forgotten how to swim, it's been such a long time. Booking a spot in advance is still a thing, it's nice to know they are keeping an eye on the numbers. But I have to say, that moment when you're getting dried in the smallest cubicle available, banging your elbows off the sides, trying so hard to put your bra on. Oh how awful is it? You're all hot and sticky and the bra just won't swivel round and it's getting stuck. It's like the biggest chore in the world, in that moment you're telling yourself you may just have 2 walk out of here without it on.

My Word this week is: Nonchalant.  Another I just love to say.  It sounds quite posh or, French. Dictionary meaning: feeling or appearing casual, calm and relaxed. Not displaying interest or enthusiasm.  An example would be someone who is behaving detached about a serious matter.

I must give a big shout out to the newest coffee shop open in Milton Keynes, Tim Hortons. And I'm excited to announce Northampton will be getting one as well. We ordered an iced latte, caramel latte and two doughnuts.  And they were quite delicious, some of the best doughnuts you will ever taste, the ole taste buds were doing a dance. There were almost too many varieties to choose from, not got a sweet tooth? They offer a wide range of savoury snacks to keep you going throughout the day, including breakfast options and burgers too. Unlucky enough to have your children tagging along? There is a range of juices, shakes and other cold drinks for them, something the bigger coffee chains seem to have forgotten about.  Check them out here: www.timhortons.co.uk

The sun is out people! How amazing has it felt this week? Beautiful blue sky, not one cloud visible on some days. Are you a sun worshipper? Or like me, avoiding it as much as I can. I burn too quickly, fair skinned and in an instance turning to a red lobster. Take care of your skin though. Always put sunscreen on and reapply as often as you can. www.skincancer.org/

Happy weekend to you all and please share my blogs and comment as freely as you like.
