The must-have chicken tikka masala recipe right now

Published on 20 January 2023 at 14:50

Hi readers and food lovers, this is my very first food corner post that I am hoping I can bring to the blog once a month.

I am an absolute big fan of a great tasting chicken tikka masala! Whilst shopping in Morissons supermarket I saw these great deals that I just had to take advantage of. I'm sharing this with you now because I can't be sure how long the deal is on for, although Morissons do continue special offers like this all the time, so let's get straight to it, I'll inform you of the ingredients so you can follow with an easy 'how to' guide, creating the best tasting masala I have eaten in a long while.

The special Ingredients

Sharwoods Tikka Masala sauce & Sharwoods plain Naans for £2.50

Sharwoods plain poppadoms & Sharwoods Mango chutney for £2.50

3 chicken breasts £4.99

Tilda microwave basmati rice £1.00

One tablespoon of cumin powder

One tablespoon of paprika powder

Half a tablespoon of pureed ginger

A pinch of salt and pepper.

Cooking time

20 minutes

How to create your chicken curry

Step one:

Dice your chicken into even sized chunks. And put your Wok or frying pan on to heat medium/high adding only a tablespoon of chosen oil.

Step two:

Take a clean bowl and add the spice mixes to the diced chicken and toss together, making sure all seasoning is spread evenly.

Step three:

Making sure the seasoned chicken is now put gently into your preheated pan, stir it on a high temperature for 5 to 10 mins, when you can turn it down to low after.

Top Tip:

If I am not sure when my chicken is cooked thoroughly, I will cut a piece of the chicken in half to look for any raw signs.

Step four:

You can now add the Sharwoods sauce to your chicken.

Top tip:

I always add just a slight touch of water in the jar after pouring the sauce out and shake it a little then tip it onto the chicken. This will not only capture all of the sauce in the jar but will help spread the sauce amongst the chicken in the pan, too much water though and your sauce will become too thin.

You can then stir it all and leave to simmer on that low heat, making sure nothing gets stuck to the bottom of the pan.

Step five:

You can now prepare your Tilda Microwave rice. Follow instructions on the packet and it will take 4 to 5 minutes.

Step six:

Now it's time to heat your Naans under the grill for 4 to 5 minutes, turning regularly to avoid burning.

Top tip:

Sprinkle each side with a little bit of water, this will help them rise.

Now you can dish up.

Best served with…

A bottle of Stella Artois lager and poppadoms with mango chutney.

I really hope this helps you to enjoy a tikka masala with a difference. It's easy, it's a simple preparation and can feed up to four people.
